日产将扩充日本发动机厂

　　Nissan Motor Co. said on Tuesday it planned to spend 6.4billionyen ($54 million) to boost its production capacity forsubcompactengines at its main engine plant near Tokyo by 80,000units a yearby Decr 2008.

　　Nissan declined to give a new output capacity figure fortheYokohama plant, which had a production capacity of 400,000enginesa year as of March 2005.

　　The planned new investment is part of the companysthree-stageoutput expansion programme for the Yokohama plant, aNissanspokeswoman said. The company aims to spend 15.7 billion yenthisbusiness year on the plant, following 11 billion yen that itspentin the year ended March, she said.

　　Nissan said last month it would reduce production at twocarassembly plants in Japan for three months starting in Apriltoadjust inventory levels and prepare for a seasonal downturnindemand.
