昨天下午，古典文学研究学者、“诗词的女儿”“感动中国2020年度人物”叶嘉莹女士去世，享年100岁。
《感动中国》组委会给与叶嘉莹的颁奖词中是这么写的:
“桃李天下，传承一家。你发掘诗歌的秘密，人们感发于你的传奇。转蓬万里，情牵华夏，续易安灯火，得唐宋薪传，继静安绝学，贯中西文脉。你是诗词的女儿，你是风雅的先生。”
叶女士是加拿大籍华人，1924年出生于北京一户满族家庭，家族本姓叶赫那拉，与纳兰性德同宗。
叶嘉莹女士曾在北美执教多年，1978年，她在报纸上看到内地学校需要教师，便给我国国家教委写了 一封申请信，希望不要任何报酬回国教书。
很快，叶嘉莹女士的申请得到批准，来到南开大学开始教书。20年来，她在国内几十所大学巡回讲学，为我国培养了大批中国古典文学研究人才。
叶嘉莹女士生活极度节俭，但将将自己毕生积蓄3568万元捐赠给南开大学教育基金会，用于支持中国传统文化研究。对此，她唯一的解释是：“我的莲花总会凋落，我要把莲子留下来”。
她还说：我这辈子只做了一件事，那就是教书。如果有来生，我还教古典诗词。

Born in Beijing on 2nd July, 1924, Yehhailed from (出生于)the Yehe Nara clan (家族), a prominent Manchu family. Throughout her life, she moved across continents, ultimately becoming a Canadian citizen. Yeh began her literary journey at an early age, composing poetry by ten and later earning a degree from Fu Jen Catholic University in 1945.

Yeh’s career spanned numerous prestigious (有声望的) institutions, including the University of British Columbia, where she taught for two decades before retiring in 1989. Following her retirement, she dedicated her efforts to teaching at Nankai University in Tianjin, where she established the Institute of Chinese Classical Culture.
