　　Brief Synopsis：SPIRITS OF THE UHADI is a rite of passage film that will trace the journey of a young Xhosa woman as she searches for her roots, and reclaims her traditional heritage. THANDISWA MAZWAI is a South African Pop Star, who represents the growing number of South African youth who are embracing their cultural roots, and giving it a modern interpretation. Her musical quest takes her out of Johannesburg, an urban African hub, into the rural and culturally rich Transkei, where she meets up with MADOSINI MANQINA the custodian of the music of the AbaThembu people. Here Madosini teaches the young woman the secrets of her ancestors traditional instruments and songs. Our presence on this earth is reflected by the past, while at the same time guiding the future MADOSINI MAQINA

　　C.V. of Director(s)：Lauren Groenewald started her career in broadcast journalism in 1991 as a radio producer for Channel Africa. She spent a year in Mozambique as correspondent for the Argus Newspaper Group reporting on news and actuality events. She moved back into the broadcast environment in 1993 when she joined the SABC3 arts team in the form of ART WORKS. In 1994 she worked on the 24-hour live election desk. She then spent two years as Acting Executive Producer of THE WORKS, where she commissioned, developed and produced various documentaries. She later consulted for TMTV and conceptualized and directed the successful fashion series Elegance 1 and Executive Produced the second series. She also inputted on the creation of the GET REAL series. In 1999 she directed and produced the award-winning documentary, at Nakasa: A Native of Nowhere for ETV. Since 2000 she has been a partner in PLEXUS TV where she has directed and co-produced human-interest documentaries.
